The eye-care record system used at 130+ hospitals — deployed and supported for yours.
KFTECH Sols deploys, customizes and supports OpenEyes — the open-source ophthalmology EMR built by NHS clinicians and used to manage nearly a million patients a year. We handle device integration, data migration, custom modules and staff training, end to end.
OpenEyes isn't ours to reinvent. That's exactly why it's a safe bet for your hospital.
OpenEyes is an electronic patient record built specifically for ophthalmology — not a general hospital EMR with an eye module bolted on. It was designed with clinicians at Moorfields Eye Hospital and is now used across NHS trusts, independent providers, and university eye departments, managing close to a million patient episodes a year.
It's owned by the not-for-profit Apperta Foundation, not a private vendor — so it can never be sold out from under the hospitals that depend on it, and every clinic that adopts it keeps a say in where it goes next.

What clinicians actually use, day to day
Messaging & worklists
Clinician-to-clinician messages are stored directly against the patient record, and clinic worklists import straight from your patient administration system.
Examination & EyeDraw
Findings are marked on visual diagrams instead of typed out. With 250+ clinical drawing objects, a single click documents complex pathology and writes the note for you.
Popup data entry
Shortcut popups across common exam fields cut mouse clicks by roughly half — from history snippets to intraocular pressure readings — so an exam is documented in a fraction of the usual time.
Operation notes
Surgical notes are pre-filled from earlier records — cataract cases pull IOL biometry and lens choice automatically — with EyeDraw available to mark suture sites and landmarks.
Correspondence
Referral and clinic letters populate themselves from recent visit data, export to PDF, and send to GPs electronically or by post — with a copy always kept for the patient.
The Hotlist
A running, personal list of every patient currently mid-procedure or waiting on results in clinic — so nobody gets lost between the waiting room, the dilation chair and the scanner.
Lightning Viewer
Flip through a full stack of OCT scans at video speed and compare a patient's imaging history the same way — no waiting for files to load between clicks.
OEscape
Vision and eye pressure over time, plotted automatically by subspecialty and synced to the matching OCT scan as you scrub along the timeline.
Analytics & NOD audit
Built-in reporting tracks waiting times and follow-up compliance in real time, and generates cataract-surgery risk analysis to national audit standards.
Theatre whiteboard
A theatre-facing display shows the case, side, procedure and lens details for each operation — a shared safety check visible to the whole surgical team.
Virtual clinics
Remote review worklists, structured checklists and auto-generated correspondence support clinician-only virtual review, inside the platform's normal workflow.
Clinic-friendly colour themes
A dark mode built for the low ambient light most eye clinics work in, with a one-click toggle mid-examination.

Great open-source software still needs someone who knows your hospital.
OpenEyes is free to download. What most eye hospitals actually need is a partner who can configure it, connect it to their devices, migrate existing records, and stand behind it after go-live — that's the work KFTECH Sols does.
Data migration
Existing patient records, from paper or another EMR, are migrated into OpenEyes cleanly — without disrupting live clinics.
Custom module development
Need a workflow OpenEyes doesn't cover out of the box? We build and contribute custom modules on top of the core platform.
Cloud or on-premise
Host it on your own infrastructure, or let us run it for you — your data residency requirements decide, not ours.
Device & PACS integration
We connect your OCT, fundus cameras and visual field devices via DICOM, and link to existing HIS/PAS systems.
Clinical staff training
Hands-on training for ophthalmologists, optometrists and clinic administrators before you ever go live.
Ongoing support & SLA
A dedicated team with response-time commitments — not a ticket queue you never hear back from.
From first conversation to go-live, in six defined stages.
Discovery & workflow mapping
We study your clinics, subspecialties, device inventory and existing HIS before touching a single config file.
Environment setup & configuration
Subspecialty modules, forms and user roles are configured to match how your clinics actually run.
Migration & device integration
Existing patient records are migrated, and OCT, fundus and field devices are connected via DICOM.
Staff training
Ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians and front-desk staff train on real, clinic-specific scenarios.
Go-live & hypercare
Our team is on-site or on standby for the first clinics after launch, resolving issues in real time.
Ongoing support & upgrades
Continuous support with an SLA, plus updates as the OpenEyes community ships new releases.
Proprietary EMR vendors sell you a license. We deploy you a foundation you'll always own.
Most ophthalmology EMRs lock a hospital into a single vendor's roadmap, pricing and support terms indefinitely. OpenEyes can't be sold to a third party and can't disappear if a vendor is acquired — it's held in trust by the not-for-profit Apperta Foundation on behalf of every clinic that runs it.
KFTECH Sols earns its fee for deployment, localization and support — not for holding your clinical data hostage.
Owned and governed by the Apperta Foundation CIC — a not-for-profit, not a private software company.
